Our ability to work across the three entities of The Collington Capital Group reflects, in microcosm, the way different sectors as a whole could work together to move blended finance into the mainstream.

We value deep, aligned partnerships across the sector, building communities of practice, sharing learning and research, and collaborating to achieve a shared vision. We look forward to welcoming others from financial services and the social sector with a similar commitment to creating a world in which capital markets drive positive social impact.

We build working partnerships with the following kinds of organisations:

We work with philanthropists to identify opportunities for scaling their impact, which are aligned with their chosen impact themes, and address some of the world’s most critical areas of social inequality. We partner with them to develop and fund pioneering blended finance impact investment vehicles capable of bringing together many forms of capital and catalysing private investment capital, increasing the impact of their philanthropic funding and creating sustainable vehicles that can continue to raise private investment capital.

We work with impact-led enterprises who want to explore diversifying their sources of funding. We work with them to assist them to access new sources of impact capital, normally from a combination of grants and return-seeking impact investment. We partner with enterprises to build their impact investment readiness, develop financial and impact models and create blueprints for deliverable and compelling high-level impact investment propositions. We market-test and then refine these blended finance structures working with pro-bono lawyers. We raise grant funding and investment capital into the investment vehicles, transforming the funding models of the impact-led enterprises with which we work.

We build long-term relationships with a limited number of impact-led fund managers, with the aim of enabling them to broaden their access to a wider group of asset allocators, allowing them to reach diversified and deep pools of capital. We help them to improve their offer and raise more capital. We take the time to develop deep knowledge of the fund managers we work with, and we represent their distinctive capabilities and products to carefully selected institutional asset owners and professional investors. We provide feedback from potential investors and make recommendations to inform the fund manager’s product development and, where appropriate, we arrange new investment into funds. We also advise fund managers who are seeking to become more impact-led on how they can integrate impact considerations into their business models and investment strategies.

We aim to help impact investors and their wealth managers deploy capital optimally in line with their objectives. The impact investing ecosystem is growing. Our position in the ecosystem gives us a unique understanding of new opportunities. We identify credible investment opportunities which meet their return and impact objectives. We take time to understand impact investors and wealth managers’ positioning on the spectrum of impact investment, ranging from ‘finance first’ investors seeking a market-rate return, to ‘impact first’ investors prepared to accept a concessionary return. Where investors and wealth managers are new to the impact investment market, we advise them on the best way to integrate an impact allocation or impact offer into their business models and investment strategies.

A key aim of our work is to strengthen the community of intermediaries in the impact ecosystem.  We source grants and social investment to fund the work of other advisers in the field and partner with them to raise grant funding and investment capital for their clients.
