James Simpson

Investment Associate

Collington Capital

James Simpson is an Investment Associate at Collington Capital, where he supports pipeline development, due diligence, and strategic research across impact-focused opportunities. He recently graduated with a degree in Business Management from Newcastle University, where he developed a strong academic and professional focus on sustainable finance and financial inclusion.

James began his journey into impact investing during his time in Ghana, where he worked closely with a microfinance organisation. There, he sought to understand microfinance’s real-world impact and witnessed firsthand the harm caused by poor financial literacy and the absence of borrower safeguards. This experience sparked a shift in focus from traditional finance to high-impact capital deployment.

Building on this, James later travelled to Kenya, where he conducted field research on the role of digital financial solutions in transforming microfinance. His dissertation explored how fintech innovations are reshaping access to credit and financial resilience in underserved communities across East Africa.
